A river of lights

Located on Pune’s prestigious Boat Club Road, this iconic luxury serviced residence stands in one of the city’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. Developed across approximately 9,290 m², the building comprises ten exclusive fully furnished serviced apartments, each occupying an entire 743 m² floor and offering residents an exceptional level of privacy, comfort, and serenity.

The project was developed by Merint Developers and envisioned by architect Pravir Sethi, founder of Studio Hinge. The interiors were initially designed by Aedas, while Atkins handled the initial planning. Fourth Dimension Architects Pvt. Ltd. was responsible for the structure, MEP systems, and the role of local coordinating architect.

Atelier dada was invited to refine and finalise the lighting concepts for several key spaces, including the lobby, the show apartment, and the outdoor areas. The focal point of the lobby is a bespoke luminaire designed by Studio Hinge and produced by Studio Klove. Composed of 274 hand-blown glass rods incorporating brass inserts and a programmable fibre-optic system, this chandelier unfolds an elegant and vibrant luminous presence. Despite certain budget constraints, the final installation retains a strong sculptural and emotional dimension.

To illuminate the central part of the lobby, a series of false skylights was imagined, creating the impression of an opening towards the sky and compensating for the significant reduction of natural light from the translucent bay, deliberately obscured by the architect to conceal the service area onto which it opens.

Beyond the lobby, Atelier dada’s lighting interventions extend to the terraces, the clubhouse, the swimming pool, and the bar. Subtle and controlled, the light reveals noble materials, highlights the vegetation, and creates a sensitive continuity between architecture, landscape, and use.

This luxury serviced residence testifies to the strength of close collaboration between architects, designers, and lighting designers. Every detail contributes to the creation of a singular hospitality experience, where elegance, comfort, and intimacy intertwine in the heart of Pune.
