BLU.CIOLES
A pedestrian landmark light guiding urban walkways of Rue Geoffroy-Hénin / Quai Jules Guesde roundabout
Designed by Atelier dada specifically to guide pedestrian paths around a major roundabout located along the TZen 5 line, connecting Paris 13ᵉ to Choisy-le-Roi, BLU.CIOLES is a bespoke luminaire born from a dialogue between light, architecture and use.
Its name, BLU.CIOLES, evokes an almost living nocturnal presence: a blue light softly pulsing through the city, like a firefly attentive to pedestrian movement.
Its perforated poly-mirror aluminium shade, composed through a subtle pixelated gradient, resonates with the architectural envelope of the nearby substation, designed by Richez et Associés and illuminated by Atelier dada. The object extends and responds to its context.
From within the shade, a soft cyan blue light is emitted. This hue subtly echoes the visual identity of Île-de-France Mobilités and creates a perceptual continuity with the cyan lighting of the substation. A single colour thus circulates between signal, architecture and territory, offering a clear and unified nocturnal reading of the site.
At ground level, the light shifts to warm white. Here, the focus is on comfort, legibility and human presence. The project deliberately differentiates between light as identity and light as use, allowing each to fully express its role.
Conceived as an object of mediation rather than a conventional streetlight, BLU.CIOLES punctuates space without saturating it, shapes a calm nocturnal atmosphere and gives this singular point along the TZen 5 route a discreet yet lasting identity.
