A Poetic Concept for a Riviera Icon, The Cannes Palace
In 2009, MC2, commissioned by Wilmotte & Associés for the renovation of the legendary Cannes Palace, entrusted us with a freelance mission to imagine a lighting concept for the façades and exterior spaces of this iconic site. The ambition was to magnify the palace’s majestic architecture and to compose an atmospheric nocturnal identity that would honor its grandeur while reinforcing its timeless elegance.
Working closely with the teams of Wilmotte & Associés and MC2, we envisioned a poetic luminous universe capable of enveloping Cannes Palace in a subtle, almost cinematic aura, drawing the gaze of both local residents and international visitors. The project was awarded first prize in the competition, recognizing the strength and sensitivity of the proposed lighting vision. Despite this success, the concept was ultimately not realized due to budgetary constraints.
A luminous tribute to Cannes and Yves Chambaret
We share this project today as a tribute to Yves Chambaret, founder of the MC2 and VV agencies, whose inspiration, trust and guidance were deeply formative. Through this unbuilt lighting concept, we honor both the man who was a mentor and the enduring elegance of Cannes Palace—an emblem of prestige, culture and light on the Côte d’Azur.
