Identity Luminaires — Residential Blocks
Reading, recognizing and inhabiting a residential ensemble through light
Beyond functional lighting for pathways and shared amenities, this project explores bespoke luminaires as tools for legibility and identity within a dense residential complex.
Each block is identified by a dedicated lighting element, conceived as a discreet yet recognizable luminous marker. Positioned at the entrances, these vertical elements define thresholds and accompany everyday gestures of arrival and departure. Their role is not decorative, but perceptual: enabling residents to intuitively recognize their building through light, proportion and presence.
The approach is based on the development of a coherent luminous language, subtly varied from one block to another, ensuring clarity without fragmentation. Repetition and consistency create a readable nighttime landscape, reinforcing a sense of belonging without hierarchy or visual overload.
These luminaires were designed as architectural objects in their own right, in dialogue with built volumes and outdoor spaces, structuring movement and shaping the nocturnal identity of the complex.
This work is part of Atelier dada’s broader research into light as a mediator between architecture, use and memory, where orientation emerges through perception rather than signage.
The lighting concepts and devices presented here are original creations of Atelier dada.
