Nocturnal Élysée
A Veil of Light and Mystery over the Presidential Palace in Paris
This lighting project for the Palais de l’Élysée, the symbolic heart of the French Republic, offers a poetic and meaningful nocturnal vision. It places the house of governance in a luminous dialogue with the houses of citizens, the Parisian district city halls, through a shared identity that is elegant, civic and resonant.
Night becomes a space of connection. Each building stands as a beacon of citizenship, weaving a symbolic link between republican values and the everyday lives of Parisians. As darkness settles, the Palais de l’Élysée emerges in a subtle light, allowing a sense of mystery to surround this emblematic place while affirming its presence with restraint and dignity.
The lighting composition creates a harmonious dialogue between shadow and light. Architecture gradually reveals itself, with each detail contributing to the expression of the site’s spirit and the values it embodies. Wrapped in a lavis de lumière, the palace takes on a sensitive presence shaped by nuances, depth and nocturnal breathing. Delicate shadow play enhances the nobility of the volumes and the finesse of the façade, inviting contemplation.
To enhance the republican elegance of the Élysée, a luminous Ariadne’s thread inspired by the tricolor sash worn by elected officials frames the palace in a lace-like veil of light. During receptions and moments of celebration, this tricolor veil comes alive, revealing architectural details in a luminous watercolor reflecting the colors of the national flag.
Light thus becomes a sensitive bridge between the Palais de l’Élysée and its citizens, uniting past and present in a timeless nocturnal vision of Parisian heritage, where the Republic reveals itself with subtlety, depth and grace.
