SHIVALIK RESIDENCES
A luminous dialogue between identity, rhythm, and urban calm
Commissioned for the lighting design of Shivalik Residences, Atelier dada developed a luminous concept that enhances the refined architecture while reinforcing the identity of the residential complex at night.
Composed of two architecturally identical residential ensembles, the project called for a lighting approach capable of preserving unity while introducing a discreet layer of distinction. Atelier dada chose to work with light as a language of nuance rather than contrast, ensuring coherence across the site while allowing each complex to express its own character.
The architectural lighting emphasizes verticality and proportion, gently revealing the façades through carefully calibrated lines of light. These lines trace the buildings’ structural rhythm, reinforcing their elegance without excess. A subtle media-light intervention animates the vertical “spine” of each tower, where pixel-controlled LED lines introduce a chromatic signature: amber tones for Complex A, red tones for Complex B. This differentiation remains perceptible yet understated, offering orientation and identity withoaut disrupting residential calm.
This approach echoes earlier work developed by Atelier dada for another project by the same client, creating a quiet continuity across time and developments. Light here becomes a thread of memory and recognition, weaving projects together while respecting their individuality.
Beyond the façades, the lighting strategy extends to the landscaped areas, entrance lobbies, circulation spaces, and shared zones. Each layer of light is designed to support daily use, comfort, and safety, while contributing to a coherent nocturnal atmosphere.
Rather than producing a landmark through intensity, Shivalik Residences asserts its presence through precision, restraint, and rhythm—an architecture of light that accompanies everyday life with dignity and serenity.
