Night of the Cultural Diversity
The Unesco Big Hall
This project marked Atelier dada’s first experience in stage lighting, developed for an atypical cultural event held in the largest hall of UNESCO. Conceived as a night of cultural diversity, the event brought together eight musical and dance ensembles, each carrying the identity and energy of a different culture.
The initial intention was to create a singular luminous experience, where light could subtly evoke the spirit of each represented country. However, the project unfolded under strong constraints. Developed within a very short timeframe, it allowed no mock-ups and relied exclusively on the existing stage lighting equipment, along with its standard filters and gobos.
Faced with these limitations, the concept was deliberately refined. Rather than imposing a scenographic narrative, the lighting design evolved into an architectural and supportive presence. Light accompanied the artists with precision and humility, enhancing rhythm, movement and presence, while leaving space for music, bodies and cultures to remain at the forefront.
