His luminous universe
The mystery of Villa Rodriguez shines in Maison Laffitte
This private villa represents Atelier dada’s first residential project in the region. Conceived for an unconventional client, the project emerged as a creative exploration rather than a conventional commission.
The owner, a discreet and singular figure, wished for a lighting identity that would reflect his inner universe. The house had been built without the guidance of an architect, and when Atelier dada joined the project, construction was already well advanced. No drawings, no plans, no visual documentation existed. The design process unfolded directly on site, through dialogue, intuition, hand sketches and verbal guidance to the teams.
The intervention extended far beyond lighting alone. Atelier dada contributed to the spatial composition itself, designing bathrooms, a double-sided fireplace, and a bespoke floor inspired by the night sky. To bring this vision to life, fiber optics were delicately integrated into the flooring, creating a constellation of light that unfolds along the staircase, like stars scattered across a nocturnal landscape.
This luminous universe, entirely conceived for its inhabitant, transforms the villa into a deeply personal space. A place where light does not decorate, but inhabits. Where architecture becomes the support for an intimate, poetic and almost cosmic experience.
