GRANESHA — Arian square

A Green and Luminous Heaven for a commercial Center

Mixed-Use

Client: Yash Arian developer

Status: Vision

Location: Ahmedabad, India

Year: 2017

When light, vegetation and symbolism converge, architecture can become a bearer of meaning.

Yarian – Granesha is a lighting design project conceived for the Yarian shopping center, its façades and the semi-public spaces of the residential complex located behind it. Designed for the developer Yash Arian, the concept Granesha draws its name from Ganesh, the deity associated with prosperity, while echoing Atelier dada’s vision of a green and responsible economy. The project explores a sensitive dialogue between spirituality and sustainability, transforming the building into a place where architecture and nature interact with subtlety.

Positioned at a strategic crossroads, at the junction of a major roundabout and a heavily trafficked road, the building acts as the public face of the entire development, with the residential areas unfolding discreetly in the background. The ambition was to transform this large concrete-and-glass structure into a living landscape. A monumental figure of Ganesh, imagined in green vegetation, was conceived as the heart of the project, surrounded by suspended planters and climbing plants designed to veil ventilation grilles and soften the architectural mass.

Inspired by the imagery of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the concept proposed a luminous scenography that celebrates abundance and growth. Light reveals layers of vegetation, accompanies the verticality of the façades and associates the visual identity of Yarian with a calm, green and culturally rooted aesthetic.

Although this visionary concept was not ultimately selected by the client, Yarian – Granesha remains, for Atelier dada, a strong visual expression of the harmony between nature and architecture. It reflects our belief in a form of urbanism where light carries values, symbols and meaning, and where sustainability and spirituality can coexist within the built environment.
